Research Summary :

Chronic liver disease, particularly metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and cirrhosis, represents a growing global health burden and a major cause of morbidity and mortality. Our research focuses on understanding the clinical and metabolic determinants of disease progression and outcomes in patients with chronic liver disease. Broadly, our work aims to identify clinically applicable biomarkers and imaging-based tools to improve risk stratification, prognostication, and therapeutic decision-making in cirrhosis and MASLD. Current projects investigate the role of skeletal muscle alterations and metabolic biomarkers in predicting outcomes such as decompensation, recompensation, and mortality in cirrhotic patients. Additional studies evaluate bedside imaging techniques, including ultrasound-based muscle measurements, integrated with clinical and biochemical markers to develop practical prognostic models for routine clinical care. Through these efforts, our research aims to improve risk prediction and management of patients with chronic liver disease.
