Research Summary :

Integrative and alternative therapies play a vital role in holistic healthcare and the management of chronic conditions. Broadly speaking, Asst. Prof. Pratya Phetkate’s research focuses on bridging the gap between traditional wisdom and evidence-based clinical practice, with specialized expertise in Thai Traditional Medicine and mindfulness therapy. His work actively utilizes Phase I, II, and III clinical trials to investigate the safety, efficacy, and immunological mechanisms of herbal formulations—such as evaluating the immunostimulatory effects of Triphala extract and the anti-inflammatory responses to Cymbopogon citratus (lemongrass) in patients with chronic kidney disease. Additionally, his research assesses the physiological benefits of traditional physical practices, including traditional Thai exercise (Ruesi Dadton) for glycemic and lipid control, and manual lymphatic drainage for postpartum care. Current projects in his portfolio are focused on expanding the clinical understanding of meditation training for psychological well-being and herbal medicine. Prospective students and collaborators working with Asst. Prof. Pratya Phetkate will gain rigorous training in clinical trial methodologies, clinical ethics, and the scientific evaluation of integrative and alternative medicines.
