Research Summary :

My research focuses on the biological effects of plant-derived compounds, particularly their roles in mitigating heavy metal toxicity and oxidative stress. Using yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) as a model system, I investigate how compounds such as gallic acid influence metal homeostasis, including copper and iron regulation, and modulate antioxidant defense mechanisms. In addition, my work explores UVB-induced alterations in the gut microbiome of mice and the potential protective effects of topical treatments, highlighting the role of the skin–gut axis. I am also interested in microbial responses to environmental contaminants, including heavy metal–resistant bacteria and microbiome dynamics. Ultimately, this research aims to contribute to the development of sustainable, biologically based strategies for environmental health and disease prevention.
