Research Summary :

  • My research program lies at the intersection of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine and Integrative Medicine, focusing on the clinical evaluation, efficacy, and safety of traditional herbal remedies, non-pharmacological therapies, and mind-body interventions for chronic conditions and healthy aging. A major axis of my work investigates traditional Thai physical therapies—such as Ruesi Dadton (Thai Yoga), Thai massage protocols, and acupuncture-based eye exercises—in managing musculoskeletal disorders, dry eye syndromes, and neurological conditions, including acute ischemic stroke and mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Complementing physical interventions, my research explores functional foods, natural products, and traditional formulations. Key investigations include assessing the clinical efficacy and safety profiles of herbal poultices, transdermal patches, herbal extracts (Lysiphyllum strychnifolium), and classic formulas for primary dysmenorrhea, as well as evaluating high-dose vitamin D and Perilla seed oil supplementation in post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC), lipid regulation, and cognitive health. Building upon these foundational studies, my ongoing research advances randomized clinical trials aimed at vascular dementia prevention through Perilla seed oil supplementation, non-pharmacological step-rhythm exercise for MCI mitigation, and botanical interventions (Hibiscus sabdariffa Linn.) for urinary tract infection prevention in postmenopausal women. Supported by competitive national and institutional grants—including the Thai Traditional Medicine Wisdom Fund and the National Agricultural Research Office—my multidisciplinary research combines quantitative clinical trial methodologies with qualitative frameworks to bridge traditional medical wisdom with evidence-based integrative practices, ultimately aiming to optimize holistic patient care and healthy aging outcomes.
