  • Ph.D. (Medical Microbiology), Khon Kaen University, Thailand, 2014

Research Interests :

Research interests include probiotic microbiology, psychobiotics and GABA-producing lactic acid bacteria, bacteriophage biology and applications for controlling antibiotic-resistant bacteria, and pathogen surveillance on environmental surfaces for infection control

Research Summary :

Research is focused on beneficial microorganisms and their potential applications in health and biotechnology. Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an important neurotransmitter involved in the regulation of brain function and behavior, is investigated through lactic acid bacteria capable of producing this compound and potentially functioning as psychobiotics that support mental well-being. Other probiotic properties are also examined, including bile salt hydrolase production associated with cholesterol reduction and the inhibition of harmful microorganisms. Omics approaches, such as genomics and proteomics, are applied to understand these bacteria at the genetic and protein levels. In addition, bacteriophages are studied as potential alternatives for controlling antibiotic-resistant bacteria through isolation and genetic characterization. Surveillance of pathogens on inanimate objects is also conducted to monitor resistant bacteria and to support the development of infection control policies.
